America's Historical Newspapers is one of the most comprehensive digitized collections of newspapers published in the United States of America between 1690 and 1922. Along with newspapers of national significance it also comprises newspapers from 50 federal states, aiming at covering all American regions as respresentatively as possible. Among the newspapers are also the German-American periodicals of the 18th and 19th century. The national license funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) contains series I, II and (save for few exceptions) III completely, as well as selected titles covering a longer period from series IV and V. The Belarus Anti-Fascist Resistance Leaflets collection consists of 97 World War II leaflets produced during the period of German occupation of Belarus in 1941-1944. Most of the leaflets in this collection were published clandestinely by the multiple Soviet guerilla (partisan) detachments, as well as by the scores of underground resistance groups which operated in German-occupied cities and villages. The leaflets were distributed to the population of the occupied territories and were addressed to the “Belarusian brothers and sisters,” to the young men who were lured into serving in German police and paramilitary units, to the workers and farmers of various Belarus regions, etc.

This database contains the content from 30 newspaper titles published during the period of German occupation of Belarus between 1942-1945. Most of the issues were printed by underground resistance groups in secret printing press facilities operating in small Belarusian towns in the territories occupied by the Germans, while others were distributed by Belarusian partisan detachments operating from remote areas of Belarus.

The collection contains reports prepared for and by a variety of Soviet and Ukrainian government agencies, such as the KGB, documenting and detailing the most important developments in the wake of the explosion of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) on April 26, 1986 in the Ukrainian city of Pripyat. It also provides internal reports and investigations on the various causes of the disaster, including the problems with the design of the NPP, and the extent of the Soviet and Ukrainian government knowledge on many of the shortcomings that made the Chernobyl meltdown not only possible but in a sense inevitable.

The Chernobyl Newspapers Collection comprises three previously unavailable local newspapers published in the Chernobyl area in the years before and after the nuclear disaster. The collection gives researchers unique access to important lesser-known primary sources from the era. The two newspapers "Prapor peremohy" (1981-1988) and "Trybuna pratsi" (1981-1990), published in Ukrainian within or in the immediate vicinity of the exclusion zone, provide the opportunity to explore the larger socio-cultural and historical context of the regions affected by the Chernobyl disaster. The official portal for Euopean data consolidates the former EU Open Data Portal and the European Data Portal. The portal promotes and supports the release of more and better-quality metadata and data by the EU’s institutions, agencies and other bodies, and European countries, enhancing the transparency of European administrations. Digi20 concentrates on the digitalization of monographs published in the second half of the 20th century, predominantly in the field of humanities and social sciences. In the first phase of the project, approx. 4,700 titles of programme segments of the publishers Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, Wilhelm Fink / Ferdinand Schöningh as well as Otto Sagner were digitized. In a second phase, further approx. 1,750 titles are being included till 2014 by consecutively digitizing all monographs up to a defined ‘Moving Wall’ of three to five years to the current year of publication.

Since its foundation in 1964 the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History has been intensively engaged in research into the history of private law in Europe. It therefore has a particularly rich store of literary sources on 19th century German, Austrian and Swiss private and civil procedural law. With support from the German Research Foundation (DFG) it has been possible to digitize this exceptional concentration of material and make it available to a wider scientific audience. In the course of the project, which extended from 1997 until 2002, some 4,316 volumes were digitized comprising around 1,350,000 pages. For the Institute library this venture into digitization represents a continuation of its long-standing initiative to maintain and conserve its collections.

The Digital National Security Archive of the U.S.A. is a comprehensive collection of essential primary documents concerning the U.S. foreign and military policy since 1945. The database, consisting of 33 partial collections, contains more than 80,000 of the most important declassified documents. Thereby, it is about political scripts such as directives of the President, notes, and diplomatic dispatches. It is also about meeting notes, autonomous reports, briefings, communications from the White House, e-mails, confidential letters, and other secret documents. For each partial collection there is included additionally an explanatory reference part containing an introduction, a chronology, a glossary, and a bibliography. At the moment the platform provides full-text access to more than 600 journals dating back to 1850. The archive content is edited on an ongoing basis. Any existing gaps will be filled and missing data steadily added. This database incorporates 10 rare newspapers from the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk (Lugansk, in local spelling) regions of Ukraine. Both Donetsk People's Republic and Lugansk People's Republic were established as independent state entities after local referendums conducted in May 2014 and organized by the separatists leaders. Although the results of the referenda have not been recognized neither by Ukraine, the EU or the United States, its direct result led to an all out war between the Ukrainian military and pro-Russian separatists resulting in thousands of deaths from both sides.

In the late 1800's, Dutch physician and feminist Aletta Jacobs and her husband C.V. Gerritsen began collecting books, pamphlets and periodicals reflecting the revolution of a feminist consciousness and the movement for women's rights. By the time their successors finished their work in 1945, the Gerritsen Collection was the greatest single source for the study of women's history in the world, with materials spanning four centuries and 15 languages. The Gerritsen curators gathered more than 4,700 publications from continental Europe, the U.S., the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand, dating from 1543-1945. The anti-feminist case is presented as well as the pro-feminist; many other titles present a purely objective record of the condition of women at a given time.

For the archival collections, JSTOR's agreements with publishers include an updating provision referred to as a "moving wall". The Russian-language newspaper Kavkaz (Caucasus) was published during 1846-1918 in Tiflis (Tbilisi), Georgia. The newspaper's main purpose was to promote the Russian culture and Russian influence in the Caucasus as well as to acquaint the Russian public with the life, habits and traditions of the tribes populating the province of the Caucasus.
