The Afghan Serials Collection is an essential collection of partisan serials from the Wahdat Library, the most comprehensive private collection of rare newspapers and journals from Afghanistan. The Belarus Anti-Fascist Resistance Leaflets collection consists of 97 World War II leaflets produced during the period of German occupation of Belarus in 1941-1944. Most of the leaflets in this collection were published clandestinely by the multiple Soviet guerilla (partisan) detachments, as well as by the scores of underground resistance groups which operated in German-occupied cities and villages. The leaflets were distributed to the population of the occupied territories and were addressed to the “Belarusian brothers and sisters,” to the young men who were lured into serving in German police and paramilitary units, to the workers and farmers of various Belarus regions, etc.

This database incorporates 10 rare newspapers from the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk (Lugansk, in local spelling) regions of Ukraine. Both Donetsk People's Republic and Lugansk People's Republic were established as independent state entities after local referendums conducted in May 2014 and organized by the separatists leaders. Although the results of the referenda have not been recognized neither by Ukraine, the EU or the United States, its direct result led to an all out war between the Ukrainian military and pro-Russian separatists resulting in thousands of deaths from both sides.

The "Krokodil" was published from 1922 to 2008 and the most popular satirical magazine of the USSR, with a circulation of 6.5 million copies. It made fun of religion, alcoholism, political personalities and events as well as bureaucracy and excessive central control. The cartoons contained in the "Krokodil" can be used as a measure of the correct party line at that time. Users are able to search for persons and organizations and find them not only in the articles, but also in cartoons and drawings.

The "Literary Print Culture" database collects files and directories of the "Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers". Founded in 1403, the members of the Guild of Booksellers (abbreviated: Stationers' Company) were granted a monopoly over printing and publishing in England in parts of the 16th and 17th centuries. The guild thus played a central role in the development of press censorship and copyright. In addition to numerous other archival documents (lists of members, court records, etc.), the database makes the "Stationers' Company Register" digitally accessible. This register lists almost all books printed in London between 1577 and 1924 and functioned as a censorship instrument and an early copyright register. Established in 1968 by the Spiritual Administration of the Muslims of Central Asia and Kazakhstan, and in continuous publication until its closure in 1991, the journal Muslims of the Soviet East was the only Islamic periodical carrying the official seal of approval of the Soviet government. As with many foreign language publications in the Soviet Union, the target audience of the journal were not its citizens but readers abroad. The Muslims of the Soviet East Archive contains the most complete collection of the journal in the English language and provides researchers an insight into the life of Soviet Muslims, journal’s obvious propagandistic slant and purpose notwithstanding.

Collection of 949 texts about mysticism and asceticism, written by 414 12th to 18th century authors from the benedictines' abbey St. Walburg in Eichstätt, published between the 16th and the 19th century. Single works have been digitally facsimilized and are available in pdf format. Most texts are written in German, only 10% are in Latin. Nearly half of the works are translations, which accounts for the high degree of cultural exchange between Germany, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal during the 17th and 18th centuries. St. Walburg Abbey is one of the few monasteries that have survived secularization. The monastery's library, the traces of which reach back to the second half of the 15th century, has been preserved completely and is unique regarding its wholeness.

This digital resource offers fulltext searching of facsimile images of the complete record of Stormont from the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, along with new interpretative essays and resources. "CAB 4" represents a unique record of "how government actually works" through turbulent and often violent times.

Novoe russko slovo (The New Russian Word), published in New York since 1910, was a daily Russian newspaper until 2009, when it went weekly. In the 1920s, it shed its pro-Communist sympathies establishing itself as the premier newspaper of the Russian émigré community in New York and beyond. Due to financial difficulties and other less direct factors, the oldest Russian language periodical in North America ceased publication in 2010. Its full text archive is available for digital access via the East View platform.

"Ogonek" is one of the oldest weekly magazines in Russia and has been published continuously since 1923. It contains illustrated articles on politics, culture and economy, interviews and photo reports.

Periodicals Archive Online is a major archive that makes the backfiles of scholarly periodicals in the arts, humanities and social sciences available electronically, providing access to the searchable full text of hundreds of titles. The database spans more than two centuries of content, 37 key subject areas, and multiple languages.

The database comprises numerous important periodicals published since 1997 in the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine. It includes journals as well as neswpapers which are mostly in Russian and cover various issues of domestic and international importance.

The central topic of the database is the history of the DPs (Displaced Persons) in Europe. For this purpose, approx. 3,000 documents, made available as image files and via full text search, have been compiled. A major amount of data originates from the Wiener Library in London and from the National Archives of the UK with holdings from the General Correspondence of the Foreign Office, the Control Office for Germany and Austria and the Control Commission for Germany. The project was tutored by Dan Stone (Royal Holloway College, University of London), who wrote an introductory essay. Further contributions to the topic supplementing the database were authored by famous historians, specializing in Jewish and DP history, from Great Britain, Germany and Israel, among them Michael Brenner (Munich) and Angelika Königseder (Berlin). Through the content from the Wiener Library, a certain emphasis lies on Jewish DP history.

Pravda Ukrainy ("Ukraine Truth") was a Russian-language Soviet Ukrainian daily and a newspaper of record established 1938 in Ukraine, serving as the official organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine and Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR. As such the newspaper was the Ukrainian Communist Party’s leading print media agent in the dissemination of the party’s opinions about politics, culture, economics and other important issues. But in the 1990s, the newspaper jettisoned its previous ideological commitments and continued publishing as a politically independent newspaper until its discontinuation in 2014.
