The Acta Sanctorum are one of the most important sources for the exploration of society and culture in the Early Christian and medieval Europe. Our knowledge of this epoch is almost exclusively based on the Hagiographic literature, in particular on this monumental collection of texts published over a period of 300 years by the Societé des Bollandistes. Analecta Hymnica Medii Aevi, edited by Guido Maria Dreves in collaboration with Clemens Flower and Henry M. Bannister, is an important collection of medieval Latin poetry (hymns, sequences, tropes, and psalteries). It was published from 1886 to 1926 in 55 volumes and is now available in an electronic version.

The current release features the English translation of Barth's magnum opus, The Church Dogmatics, in its entirety. The original German version, Die kirchliche Dogmatik, is also included as are the first 36 volumes of Barth's Gesamtausgabe, which includes hundreds of letters, sermons, lectures, conversations, and academic writings. At the moment the platform provides full-text access to more than 600 journals dating back to 1850. The archive content is edited on an ongoing basis. Any existing gaps will be filled and missing data steadily added. ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global is the world's most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses, covering materials back to the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, as well as to European dissertations from the 17th century. The database is the official dissertations repository for the Library of Congress, with 5.5 million bibliographic citations, 3 million full texts, 4,100 contributing institutions worldwide and 250,000 works added annually. Full-text coverage spans from 1743 to the present, with citation coverage dating back to 1637.

The EZB is a huge directory of electronic journals which mirrors the central Max Planck Society subscriptions as well as the local licensing situation of the institutes. Access rights to the contents of the individual journals are indicated with "traffic lights". Entries are searchable on journal level.

Throughout Europe, national patent offices and the European Patent Office (EPO) offer free patent information on the Internet Patents reveal solutions to technical problems, and they represent an inexhaustable source of information: more than 80 percent of man's technical knowledge is described in patent literature. From the middle of 1998 onwards, esp@cenet users have been able to access the bibliographic data of all patents published in the preceding two years by any member state of the European Patent Organisation, as well as by the European Patent Office and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). In addition, full-page facsimile images of documents are also retrievable to facilitate more detailed analysis of these documents. The data for this particular service is stored at the relevant national office.
