The database contains 18th and 19th century primary literature in German, English, and French from the Corvey library, and thus presents the holdings of a library of the nobility preserved as a whole. Nearly all textual genres are represented, whereas the contentual focus lies on the Romantic period between 1790 and 1840 (1870, respectively). The collection is structured in a modular way with regard to languages and textual genres, and comprises 5,952 works which are provided in digital form for the first time. The Research Data Centre (FDZ) of the German Federal Employment Agency (BA) at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) is intended mainly to facilitate access to BA and IAB micro data for non-commercial empirical research using standardised and transparent access rules. In the late 1800's, Dutch physician and feminist Aletta Jacobs and her husband C.V. Gerritsen began collecting books, pamphlets and periodicals reflecting the revolution of a feminist consciousness and the movement for women's rights. By the time their successors finished their work in 1945, the Gerritsen Collection was the greatest single source for the study of women's history in the world, with materials spanning four centuries and 15 languages. The Gerritsen curators gathered more than 4,700 publications from continental Europe, the U.S., the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand, dating from 1543-1945. The anti-feminist case is presented as well as the pro-feminist; many other titles present a purely objective record of the condition of women at a given time.
