Über die darin enthaltenen standardisierten Metadaten (einheitliche strukturierte Beschreibungen) sind die Daten einfach auffindbar und zugänglich. Die Daten selbst werden weiterhin von den Datenbereitstellern dezentral vorgehalten und gepflegt.

ProQuest Historical Newspapers offers full-text and full-image articles for significant newspapers dating back to the 18th Century.

The database contains approx. 11 million pages - i.e. every British parliament document published officially over a period of three centuries - and offers an abundant range of material about the political and public topics of the time. Along with parliament documents the database comprises reports and correspondence that mirrors, for example, also the relationship of the British Empire with its colonies and the rest of the world. In addition to parliament documents from the House of Commons and the House of Lords the database contains debate contributions, congress reports, publications of the parliament and historical documents.

The database contains detailed mapping of over 100 investment laws around the globe. International Financial Statistics (IFS) - IFS statistics include current data on exchange rates, international liquidity, international interest rates, prices, national accounts, and international transactions (including balance of payments and international investment positions). Direction of Trade Statistics (DOT) - The database includes: total bilateral and multilateral exports and imports aggregated at national or regional group level data for the most recent six quarters and the latest year for 169 countries, and ten quarters and five years for the world and area tables. Government Finance Statistics (GFS) - The IMF Government Finance Statistics contains statistical data on government financial operations for 145 IMF member countries. Where reported, the database contains time series from 1990 onwards using the Government Finance Statistics Manual, 2001 (GFSM 2001) framework. The statistics, issued quarterly, are updated as new data are received and time series become available. These time series present combined statistics on revenue, expenses, transactions in nonfinancial assets and financial assets and liabilities as well as for stocks of assets and liabilities of general government and its subsectors.

ICSD is the world’s largest database for fully identified inorganic crystal structures. It currently contains about 193,000 peer-reviewed data entries including their atomic coordinates. Updates are made twice a year (in spring and in fall) with data taken from scientific journals and other sources. Thanks to these many heterogeneous data sources the database has a wide coverage. ICSD is also updated retroactively. The oldest records date back to the year 1913 and contain information from publications by William Henry Bragg and his son.

Users from the Max Planck Society have access to selected archival collections of scholarly journals and more than 3,000 Open Access ebooks. For the archival collections, JSTOR's agreements with publishers include an updating provision referred to as a "moving wall".
