The Acta Sanctorum are one of the most important sources for the exploration of society and culture in the Early Christian and medieval Europe. Our knowledge of this epoch is almost exclusively based on the Hagiographic literature, in particular on this monumental collection of texts published over a period of 300 years by the Societé des Bollandistes. The Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA) contains abstracts and indexes of current publications in the history of art, including scholarly journals, conferences, book, exhibition reviews, and exhibition catalogues. The records consist of bibliographic citations, abstracts, and indexing. Note that the database search includes BHA, covering 1990-2007, the International Bibliography of Art (IBA), covering the years 2008 and part of 2009, and the Répertoire de la litterature de l'art (RILA), one of the predecessors of BHA, with records that cover 1975–1989.

Book Sales Catalogues Online offers a comprehensive bibliography of book sales catalogues printed in the Dutch Republic before 1801, providing full access to some 4,000 digital facsimiles from ca. 50 libraries across Europe. These catalogues are a key primary source for research on the history of the book and libraries, the history of ideas, the history of collecting, the history of literature, and the history of art. The catalogues contain information on books from all over Europe in various languages, such as Dutch, French, and Latin.

Cairn offers the most comprehensive collection of French and Belgian journals in social sciences available online. Note that access to newer content is generally not free of charge (moving wall 2 to 5 years).

The Digital Library of the Catholic Reformation makes the documentary riches of this era accessible, adding functionalities that maximize the flexibility with which researchers can search, view, organize, and manipulate this historically important source material. With new content uploads occurring on a regular basis, the database offers a constantly growing treasury of documents, including papal and synodal decrees, catechisms and inquisitorial manuals, biblical commentaries, theological treatises and systems, liturgical writings, saints' lives, and devotional works.

The Digital Library of Classic Protestant Texts gives researchers access to an extensive range of seminal works from the Reformation and post-Reformation eras. With new content uploads occurring on a regular basis, the database offers a constantly growing treasury of theological writings, biblical commentaries, confessional documents, and polemical treatises written by more than 300 Protestant authors.

The database contains 18th and 19th century primary literature in German, English, and French from the Corvey library, and thus presents the holdings of a library of the nobility preserved as a whole. Nearly all textual genres are represented, whereas the contentual focus lies on the Romantic period between 1790 and 1840 (1870, respectively). The collection is structured in a modular way with regard to languages and textual genres, and comprises 5,952 works which are provided in digital form for the first time. In the late 1800's, Dutch physician and feminist Aletta Jacobs and her husband C.V. Gerritsen began collecting books, pamphlets and periodicals reflecting the revolution of a feminist consciousness and the movement for women's rights. By the time their successors finished their work in 1945, the Gerritsen Collection was the greatest single source for the study of women's history in the world, with materials spanning four centuries and 15 languages. The Gerritsen curators gathered more than 4,700 publications from continental Europe, the U.S., the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand, dating from 1543-1945. The anti-feminist case is presented as well as the pro-feminist; many other titles present a purely objective record of the condition of women at a given time.

The Journal de Physique was created in 1872 by Charles d'Almeida. It counts more than 300,000 pages in over 48,500 articles and represents a true scientific monument, produced since 1872, within which the great names of physics may be found.

The Library of Latin Texts, originating from the Cetedoc Library of Christian Latin Texts (CLCLT), is the most comprehensive collection of Latin texts. The database contains texts from the beginnings of Latin literature (Livius Andronicus, 240 B.C.) until the 2nd Vatican Council (1962-1965). It covers the classical period as well as works by the Church Fathers, medieval Latin literature, or even works from the reformation and counter-reformation. Additionally, texts from Corpus Christianorum / Series Latina and Continuatio Mediaevalis as well as from a large number of editions of the Corpus Scriptorum Ecclesiasticorum Latinorum, from the Patrologia Latina, from the Sources Chrétiennes, from the Opera Sancti Bernardi, Biblia Sacra Vulgata and the pseudo epigraphical scripts of the Old Testament are available. The subscription covers full text access to all content added until January 2015.

Im Rahmen der digitalen Monumenta Gremaniae Historica (dMGH) wurden in einem von der DFG geförderten Gemeinschaftsprojekt zwischen den MGH und der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek, München, sämtliche Editionsbände der MGH digitalisiert und Open Access zur Verfügung gestellt. Neue Bände werden nach einer Schutzfrist von drei Jahren in die dMGH aufgenommen („moving wall“). Bis Ende 2010 war die Volltexterfassung der älteren Bände abgeschlossen. The Middle Eastern & North African Newspapers collection includes publications from across this dynamic region, providing unique insights into the history of individual countries, as well as broad viewpoints on key historic events from the late nineteenth century through the present. Key topics include the decline of colonialism, the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, the Suez Crisis, the Cold War, the rise of the petroleum industry, twentieth-century pan-Arab movements, both World Wars, the establishment of the state of Israel, the Iran-Iraq War, and the recent Arab Spring. Researchers will find a wealth of unique content from the Middle East and North Africa, much of which has never been digitized or available as open access material. Content in the Middle Eastern & North African Newspapers collection is predominantly in Arabic, but also includes key titles in English and French. The collection comprises mostly out-of-copyright, orphaned content. Subscribing institutions also receive access to five in-copyright titles from the region: Jumhuriyah (Egypt), Filastin (Palestine), Al Akhbar (Lebanon), Al Riadh (Saudi Arabia), and Ad Dustour (Jordan).

Facsimile edition of the "Patrologia Graeca", edited by Jacques-Paul Migne from 1857 to 1866 in more than 160 volumes. The database comprises works of the Greek church literature beginning with Pseudo-Clemens (100 AD) up to Kallistos (1478) and thus makes available the important Greek Christian authors and the most influential works of theology, philosophy, history and literature of the late ancient world and the early Middle Ages. Texts are made easily accessible by an index of contents in Latin and Greek language, by an index of authors, a title index and an index of subject. All of these indexes are full text ones.

The Patrologia Latina Database is an electronic version of the first edition of Jacques-Paul Migne's Patrologia Latina, published between 1844 and 1855, and the four volumes of indexes published between 1862 and 1865. Patrologia Latina comprises the works of the Church Fathers from Tertullian in 200 AD to the death of Pope Innocent III in 1216. The complete Patrologia Latina is included with all prefatory material, original texts, critical apparatus and indexes. Migne's column numbers, essential references for scholars, are included.
