Founded in 1916, Optica (formerly the Optical Society of America, OSA) was organized to increase and diffuse the knowledge of optics, pure and applied. One of the Society's major activities is the publication of peer-reviewed journals and books. Though access to current Optica Publishing Group content is no longer licensed, access to the 2007 - 2011 volumes of the journals and proceedings is still available.

The "JPS Journals" platform provides access to the academic journals published by the Physical Society of Japan (JPS). These journals cover the subject area from condensed matter physics to particle physics.

The Portico digital preservation service was created in 2002 with the support of libraries and publishers to ensure that the world's scholarship, now stored and disseminated largely in digital form, will be accessible to future generations. Users from the Max Planck Society gain access to preserved content when specific conditions or “trigger events” cause titles to no longer be available from the publisher or through a successor.

Portland Press Limited, the wholly-owned trading subsidiary of the Biochemical Society, is a leading innovative publisher of journals, books and electronic resources. The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences is one of the world's most-cited and comprehensive multidisciplinary scientific journals. Established in 1914, PNAS publishes the results of original research, as well as science news, commentaries, reviews, perspectives, colloquium papers, and actions of the National Academy of Sciences. Project Euclid's mission is to advance scholarly communication in the field of theoretical and applied mathematics and statistics. The MPG licensed the EUCLID PRIME collection, a growing aggregation of well-cited, peer-reviewed journals in mathematics and statistics. Project MUSE is a leading provider of digital humanities and social science content for the scholarly community. Since 1995 the MUSE journal collections cover full-text versions of scholarly journals from many of the world's leading university presses and scholarly societies, with over 120 publishers currently participating.

PsycARTICLES comprises journals published by the American Psychological Association, the APA Educational Publishing Foundation, the Canadian Psychological Association, and Hogrefe Publishing Group, from 1894 onwards.

The PsycINFO databases cover the professional and academic literature in psychology and related disciplines including medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, and other areas. Coverage is worldwide, and includes references and abstracts to over 1300 journals and to dissertations in more than 30 languages, and to book chapters and books in the English language. Over 50,000 references are added annually. Popular literature is excluded.

"Psyndex - Literature & Audiovisual Media" contains records on psychology from researchers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Compiled by the German Center for Documentation and Information in Psychology at the University of Trier (ZPID), this database covers German and English journal articles, books, chapters, reports, dissertations as well as audiovisual media. The database is bilingual: titles and descriptors are in German and English. German publications are abstracted in German; English publications in English. The database is indexed with the Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms by permission of the American Psychological Association. A bilingual thesaurus is included with the database.

The Rockefeller University Press publishes three journals with a good standing in the biomedical field: * The Journal of Experimental Medicine, * The Journal of General Physiology, * The Journal of Cell Biology (formerly: The Journal of Biophysical and Biochemical Cytology). The Royal Society publishes 9 high quality, peer reviewed journals covering the full breadth of the biological, physical and cross-disciplinary science. The Royal Society’s Philosophical Transactions, launched in 1665, was the world’s first scientific journal. It established the fundamental principles of scientific priority and peer review, used throughout scientific publishing ever since. The RSC publishing platform provides access to electronic journals and books from the Royal Society of Chemistry. From this page, you can reach over 1 million chemical science articles and chapters. Users from the MPG have access to the entire journal collection, including the RSC journals archive covering articles published back to 1841. In addition, a collection of about 900 ebooks was purchased within the scope of the German national licenses program. SAGE Journals Online provides access to more than 1000 journals with a coverage spanning the humanities, social sciences, and science, technology, and medicine. Max Planck researchers have full text access to a multidisciplinary selection of the full journal collection. In addition, the agreement covers article-processing charges for Max Planck authors in Gold Open Access journals and in hybrid titles in the SAGE Premier package. SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) is a program of the Sao Paulo Research Foundation for the cooperative publishing of open access journals on the internet. Content includes regional journals from Latin American and the Caribbean as well as titles from Spain, Portugal and South Africa. The index covers approximately 650 titles (over 350 adding content to journals already covered in the Web of Science) and contains several million cited references.

The Science Online platform provides fulltext access to the peer-reviewed journals published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Scopus is a large abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, including scientific journals, books and conference proceedings, covering research topics across all scientific and technical disciplines, ranging from medicine and social sciences to arts and humanities. Further, with smart tools totrack, analyze and visualize research, Scopus empowers you to advance your science beyond the text.

The SSCI part in the Web of Science™ Core Collection provides researchers with access to the world's leading bibliographic and citation databases. This database covers some 2,474 of the world's leading journals of social sciences across more than 50 disciplines A unique feature of the WoS is that from any bibliographic record in the database links are available to its cited references, to related articles and to citing articles. In some instances additional links (e.g. to the journal impact factor) may also be available.

The SPIE Digital Library is an extensive resource available on optics and photonics, providing access to technical papers from SPIE Journals and Conference Proceedings from 1962 to the present. More than 18,000 new technical papers are added annually. The current subscription provides Max Planck researchers with full text access to all SPIE journals and proceedings.
