The MPI-MP opened its reference library in 1995. The library houses over 2000 books and 120 prominent molecular biology-related journals.

Online Contents Classics provides access to the tables of contents of journals in the field of classical studies, especially Greek and Latin Philology, Prehistory, Early History, Ancient History and Archaeology, Egyptology. It is a subject-oriented selection of bibliographic data from the Database Online Contents. This database is regularly enhanced by table of contents data from additional periodicals out of the special collections of the University Library Heidelberg as German central subject library for Archaeology and Egyptology and of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, as German central subject library for Greek and Latin Philology and Ancient History.

The database OLC Environment is a subject oriented selection of bibliographic data from the Online Contents database that is regularly enhanced by table of contents data from additional periodicals out of the special collections of the TIB Hannover, the central subject library of Germany for technology and their related subjects, especially chemistry, computer science, mathematics and physics. Currently 514 journals are being indexed back to the year of publication in 1993.

RiffReporter is a German news magazine based in Berlin and was founded in 2017. RiffReporter delivers in-depth and thoroughly researched journalistic content on topics such as environment, science, technology, society and global affairs. The cooperatively run journalism portal was awarded the renowned Grimme Online Award in 2018. The MPG subscription covers full text access to all content available on the RiffReporter platform.

The RISM database references mostly historical music manuscripts, the majority of them originated before 1800. - The original sources are available from the libraries, music archives, and private collections as indicated in the RISM database. These institutions can often be approached for reproductions. - About 700,000 entries (June 2010). -- Die RISM-Datenbank weist hin auf vor allem historische handschriftliche Noten, die Mehrzahl davon entstanden vor 1800. - Die Originale können in den angegebenen Bibliotheken, Musikarchiven oder Privatsammlungen eingesehen werden. As the world's largest specialised library in its fields, the library has excellent collections of technical and scientific specialist and research information.

The Umwelt-Online platform contains all relevant legal regulations on topics such as environmental protection, occupational safety, transport of dangerous goods, hazardous materials and systems engineering. The content is continuously updated. Die Plattform Umwelt-Online enthält alle relevanten rechtlichen Regelungen zu den Themen Umweltschutz, Arbeitssicherheit, Gefahrguttransporte, Gefahrstoffe, Anlagentechnik und Anlagensicherheit. The vifabio portal offers rapid access to biological literature and information. It offers a parallel search in various biologically relevant library catalogues, bibliographic databases, and the internet guide (a collection of selected, quality controlled internet sources).
