The MPI-CBG library provides comprehensive literature and informations services to all MPI-CBG members and guests.

The MPI-MP opened its reference library in 1995. The library houses over 2000 books and 120 prominent molecular biology-related journals.

Online Contents Arts and Art Sciences offers access to tables of contents of art and art related journals. It is a subject oriented selection of bibliographic data from the Online Contents database. It is regularly enhanced by table of contents data from additional periodicals out of the special collections of the State and University Library (SLUB) Dresden and the University Library Heidelberg.

The database OLC Mathematics and Informatics is a subject oriented selection of bibliographic data from the Online Contents database that is regularly enhanced by table of contents data from additional periodicals out of the special collections of the TIB Hannover. Currently 1,357 journals are being indexed back to the year of publication in 1993.

OLC Psychology is a subject oriented selection of bibliographic data from the Online Contents database. This database is regularly enhanced by table of contents data from additional periodicals out of the special collections of the Saarland University and State Library (SULB) Saarbrücken, the central subject library for Psychology in Germany. Currently 878 journals are being indexed back to the year of publication in 1993.

Catalogue of Exhibited Works and Depository Holdings. The online edition Paintings in Museums presents a systematic index of the entire holdings of works, both on display and in deposits, owned by nearly 650 museums in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. A comprehensive and current catalogue for over 178,000 paintings, pastels, gouaches as well as mixed-media works from all ages, genres and styles of about 31,200 artists is therefore available to the user.

"Psyndex - Literature & Audiovisual Media" contains records on psychology from researchers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Compiled by the German Center for Documentation and Information in Psychology at the University of Trier (ZPID), this database covers German and English journal articles, books, chapters, reports, dissertations as well as audiovisual media. The database is bilingual: titles and descriptors are in German and English. German publications are abstracted in German; English publications in English. The database is indexed with the Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms by permission of the American Psychological Association. A bilingual thesaurus is included with the database.

"Psyndex - Tests" contains records on psychology from researchers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Compiled by the Leibniz Institute for Psychology Information (ZPID), this database covers about 5,000 extensive descriptions of psychological and educational tests used in the German-speaking countries. "Psyndex - Tests" is bilingual: titles and descriptors are in German and English. German publications are abstracted in German; English publications in English. The database also include theoretical background, testing procedures, test construction, reliability, validity, fields of application, research and other selected literature, a comprehensive discussion, and test reviews. "Psyndex - Tests" is indexed with the Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms by permission of the American Psychological Association (APA). A bilingual thesaurus is included with the database.

PubPsych is a free information retrieval system for psychological resources, aiming to enhance the visibility of European and international psychological literature. It offers a comprehensive and balanced selection of resources from a growing number of international databases with a European focus, covering the needs of academic and professional psychologists. PubPsych includes more than 850,000 datasets and offers, where available, full-text linking, links to additional information and link resolving. Das "Répertoire International d'Iconographie Musicale" (RIdIM) ist ein internationaler Verbund zur Verzeichnung und Erschließung von Musik- und Tanzdarstellungen im Bereich der bildenden Kunst und des Kunsthandwerks. In der "Datenbank zu Musik und Tanz in der Kunst" der RIdIM Arbeitsstelle Deutschland werden v.a. Objekte aus größeren Museen, Sammlungen und Bibliotheken in Deutschland katalogisiert. Die Erschließung der Kunstwerke in der Datenbank folgt formalen (Künstler, Titel, Entstehungsland, bzw. -ort, Technik, Datierung, besitzende Institution, Inventarnummer, etc.) und inhaltlichen Kriterien (allgemeine und musikalische Ikonographie, Musikinstrumente, allgemeine Beschreibung). Begleitend zur Katalogisierung dokumentiert die Arbeitsstelle die katalogisierten Objekte mit Bildreproduktionen.

The SpringerLink platform provides MPG staff with access to a huge collection of English and German eBooks from 2005 onwards, as well as the English and the German collection of the Springer Book Archive (1842-2004). In addition, the content of selected book series is available. Includes major reference works and dictionaries. Max Planck researchers who publish a monograph or edited volume with Springer Nature as an Open Access eBook receive a discount on the standard Book Publishing Charge.
