Edition Open Access provides open access to the publications of the Max Planck Research Library for the History and Development of Knowledge. The aim is to disseminate the results of scholarly work – in accordance with the open-access paradigm – to a broad audience rapidly and at low cost. The volumes presented here are directed at scholars and students in a wide range of disciplines. The works are available online both as print-on-demand books and open-access publications and can be accessed, together with additional information.

The Education Magazine Archive provides access to the archives of leading magazines and trade publications in the field of education, dating from the early 20th century through to the 21st. It covers multiple aspects of the history of education of this period, with magazines devoted to a range of educational levels, topics, and audiences. The collection comprises 26 publications and approximately 850,000 full color page images, each article individually indexed with fully searchable text. The titles were originally aimed at teachers, policy makers/administrators and other education professionals, but have now become valuable primary sources for scholars. The material enables researchers to explore multiple perspectives on the key events of the age and opens up new opportunities for research in the history of education, as well as on related subjects such as social history, childhood studies, psychology, and politics.

Elgaronline is the content platform for Edward Elgar Publishing's journals, reference works and books, including scholarly monographs, Research Handbooks, companions and more. Max Planck researchers have full text access to more than 2,600 business and economics e-books published by Edward Elgar from 1993 onwards.

More than 200 peoples and ethnic groups are indexed on the basis of different sources. Underlying data are results of field research published as ethnographic monographies, essays or manuscripts which are used as "primary data" and subject-indexed by applying a highly complex and differentiated system down to the level of single paragraphs. The indexing is done according to the "Outline of Cultural Materials" (OCM) that contains over 700 different classification elements. Additionally, a keyword search at full text level is possible. The database is updated on a regular basis.

On the basis of the English Short Title Catalogue, Eighteenth Century Collections Online enable access to more than 180,000 titles of books, pamphlets, essays and single sheet prints primarily published in Great Britain.

The EZB is a huge directory of electronic journals which mirrors the central Max Planck Society subscriptions as well as the local licensing situation of the institutes. Access rights to the contents of the individual journals are indicated with "traffic lights". Entries are searchable on journal level.

ELFI is an information brokerage system which supports its users in keeping up-to-date information on funding opportunities referring to the original data source. ELFI offers information on more than 11,000 programs on research funding, from about 4,900 national and international sponsors. The information is provided to scientists, research consultants, students and companies on the web.

eLife publishes research in the life sciences and biomedicine, from the most fundamental and theoretical work, through to translational, applied, and clinical research. This includes subjects from human genetics and neuroscience to biophysics and epidemiology. The Max Planck Society covers article-processing charges for Max Planck authors centrally. The ScienceDirect interface provides access to the electronic content owned by Elsevier and third-party information providers like Cell Press. Max Planck researchers have full text access to nearly the entire journal collection with archival content, including Cell Press and The Lancet journals. In addition, the Max Planck Society covers Open Access fees for Max Planck authors in more than 2500 journals. Further details are available on the MPDL website. The MPG subscription also covers a collection of 680 Elsevier eBooks acquired in 2015. Moreover, selected eBook backfiles have been purchased within the scope of the German national licenses program.

Emerald Archive references full text articles from nearly 400 journals and more than 1,100 books published by Emerald until 2021. Add-on content, such as case studies, interviews, and reviews, is available. The major amount of the content originates from the field of economics. In addition, library science and engineering are covered.

This is a fully updated online edition of the Encyclopedia of Public International Law published in print between 1991 and 2001 under the general editorship of Rudolf Bernhardt.

This collections contains 1,529 e-books containing more than 572,000 pages from 681 book titles that were written by 311 authoresses. These e-books were created from 1,830 books originally published between 1776 and 1876. The collection first and foremost contains novels and short stories, but also plays, poetry as well as a few anthologies, travel literature and children's books that stem from the holdings of the Fürstliche Bibliothek Corvey. It is the most comprehensive compilation of women's literature from the romantic period in English language. The collection contains approximately 90 percent of the British prose published during that time. The e-books contain digitally enhanced facsimile pages of the historic book pages, and additionally bookmarks pointing to relevant sections of a work. On the e-book pages, full text search functions can be carried out within the historic text and layout.
