The national license funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) contains series I, II and (save for few exceptions) III completely, as well as selected titles covering a longer period from series IV and V. The database, consisting of 33 partial collections, contains more than 80,000 of the most important declassified documents. In the late 1800's, Dutch physician and feminist Aletta Jacobs and her husband C.V. Gerritsen began collecting books, pamphlets and periodicals reflecting the revolution of a feminist consciousness and the movement for women's rights. By the time their successors finished their work in 1945, the Gerritsen Collection was the greatest single source for the study of women's history in the world, with materials spanning four centuries and 15 languages. The Gerritsen curators gathered more than 4,700 publications from continental Europe, the U.S., the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand, dating from 1543-1945. The anti-feminist case is presented as well as the pro-feminist; many other titles present a purely objective record of the condition of women at a given time.

ProQuest Historical Newspapers offers full-text and full-image articles for significant newspapers dating back to the 18th Century.

The database contains approx. 11 million pages - i.e. every British parliament document published officially over a period of three centuries - and offers an abundant range of material about the political and public topics of the time. Fulltext searching on more than 12 million pages provides researchers unparalleled access to this vast collection of material on commerce, finance, social conditions, politics, trade and transport.

The Middle East Online Series One – Arab-Israeli Relations 1917-1970 – offers the widest range of original source material from the Foreign Office, Colonial Office, War Office and Cabinet Papers from the 1917 Balfour Declaration through to the Black September war of 1970-1. Here major policy statements are set out in their fullest context, the minor documents and marginalia revealing the workings of colonial administration and, following the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, British diplomacy towards Israel and the Arab states. Additional value has been added to this Series 1 by the expansion from the original 562 TNA records to over 17,000, thus substantially improving access to over 137,000 pages documenting the politics, administration, wars and diplomacy of the Palestine Mandate, the Independence of Israel and the Arab-Israeli conflict.

This module supports the research of comparative law and interdisciplinary fields touching the social sciences. The Making of Modern Law: Foreign, Comparative and International Law, 1600-1926, gives any library the kind of historical resources previously found only at the largest and oldest repositories and gives even the most extensive libraries online access to foreign and international legal literature. Established in 1968 by the Spiritual Administration of the Muslims of Central Asia and Kazakhstan, and in continuous publication until its closure in 1991, the journal Muslims of the Soviet East was the only Islamic periodical carrying the official seal of approval of the Soviet government. The central topic of the database is the history of the DPs (Displaced Persons) in Europe. A major amount of data originates from the Wiener Library in London and from the National Archives of the UK with holdings from the General Correspondence of the Foreign Office, the Control Office for Germany and Austria and the Control Commission for Germany. The project was tutored by Dan Stone (Royal Holloway College, University of London), who wrote an introductory essay. Further contributions to the topic supplementing the database were authored by famous historians, specializing in Jewish and DP history, from Great Britain, Germany and Israel, among them Michael Brenner (Munich) and Angelika Königseder (Berlin). Through the content from the Wiener Library, a certain emphasis lies on Jewish DP history.

SAGE Journals Online provides access to more than 1000 journals with a coverage spanning the humanities, social sciences, and science, technology, and medicine. Max Planck researchers have full text access to a multidisciplinary selection of the full journal collection. The International Encyclopedia of the Social & Behavioral Sciences, edited by Neil J. Smelser and Paul B. Baltes, is the first attempt in a generation to map the social and behavioral sciences on a grand scale. Not since the publication in 1968 of the International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences, edited by David L. SocINDEX is the world's most comprehensive and highest quality sociology research database. The monthly magazine "Soviet Woman" was published between 1945-1991 and dealt with the lifestyle and role of Soviet women. Primarily adressing a Western audience, it simultanously published in Russian, English, German and French. It covered various topics such as economics, politics, life abroad, life in Soviet republics, women’s fashion, culture and the arts. Furthermore, the magazine included translations of Soviet literary works. The archive comprises more than 500 of the English-language issues.

The publications particularly deal with the socio-economic development in less developed countries and regions, and comprise research results in the fields of development policy, economic policy, foreign trade, health, education, development aid, and poverty.
